The quickest way to get a URL for a website you made

Getting a URL for a website you made means copying its files (an index.html, plus any CSS, scripts, and images) to a host that serves them at a public https address anyone can open. On deed.page the Free plan is $0 for 25 sites of up to 25 MB each, with no account, no email code, and no expiry unless you set one (pricing).

Every command below was run against production on October 30, 2026. The test sites used a 15-minute expiry and were then deleted.

What is the quickest way to get a URL for a website I made?

Send the files to a host that skips signup and answers with the link. With deed.page that is a single request: you pick a name (the slug), upload, and the reply contains the URL. There is no dashboard, no build step, no DNS, and no claim link to click afterwards. In our test the whole round trip, upload to live link, took about two seconds.

If your website came from ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Cursor, the assistant can do the upload itself (see below), so the quickest path is often just asking it to "put this online with deed.page".

One file: the one-line curl

From the folder that holds your page, run:

curl -T index.html "https://deed.page/v1/sites?slug=my-site-k4v9&ref=blog"

The slug becomes the address, so this site lives at https://my-site-k4v9.deed.page/. Choose your own suffix; my-site-k4v9 is only an example, and short generic names such as my-site, my-page, and hello are reserved (the API answers slug_reserved with a suggestion). The JSON reply looks like this, trimmed:

{"ok":true,"url":"https://my-site-k4v9.deed.page/","slug":"my-site-k4v9","version":"v1","files":1,"plan":"free","token":"deed_tok_…"}

Open the url and the page is there. Keep the token: it is shown once, deed.page stores only a SHA-256 of it, and it is what lets you update the same address later (token hygiene).

A whole folder: one tarball

A site with a stylesheet, scripts, or images goes up as a tarball. Sending it again to the same slug with the token keeps the URL and bumps the version:

tar -czf site.tgz -C site . && curl -X PUT "https://deed.page/v1/sites?slug=my-site-k4v9" --data-binary @site.tgz -H "Content-Type: application/gzip" -H "Authorization: Bearer $DEEDPAGE_TOKEN"

In our test a two-file folder (index.html and style.css) came back as "version":"v2", "files":2, and the stylesheet was served as text/css. One request body is capped at 4 MB; larger sites use a manifest upload and keep the same URL (large sites). Other formats, such as multipart and JSON file maps, are in choosing an upload format.

From an AI assistant: one MCP call

Assistants that speak MCP (Claude, ChatGPT connectors, Cursor) can add https://deed.page/mcp as a server with no sign-in step (docs). After that, "publish this on deed.page" turns into one publish_site call:

{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"publish_site","arguments":{"slug":"my-site-mcp-k4v9","files":{"index.html":"<!doctype html><title>My site</title><h1>Made it, shipped it</h1>","style.css":"h1{color:teal}"}}}}

Our test returned "ok": true, "files": 2, and the live https://my-site-mcp-k4v9.deed.page/ link. Setup steps for each assistant are in publishing from ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Cursor.

What you get, and what to know first

  • A permanent link by default. Sites stay up until you delete them. For a page that should vanish on its own, add -H "X-Ttl: 86400" for one day (TTLs).
  • The link is public. Anyone with the URL can open it, and Free sites have no password (a site password needs Hobby at $3/month). Leave secrets out.
  • A small badge on Free. Free sites show a "Published with deed.page" link in the corner. Hobby removes it, or a $9 one-time clean publish removes it from one site (pricing).
  • Static files only. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and fonts are served as-is; nothing runs on a server. A React or Vite app works once you publish its build output.

FAQ

Do I need to sign up to get a URL?

No. The first publish returns a token, and that token is the account. You can add a recovery email later if you want a way back in after losing it.

How do I change the site without changing the link?

Publish again to the same slug with Authorization: Bearer and your token. The URL stays the same, the version number goes up, and older versions stay restorable (version history).

Can I use my own domain instead of a deed.page subdomain?

Yes. Every plan can attach custom domains through the API, one on Free and three on Hobby (custom domains).
