# A Just Publish alternative for agents that publish without a sign-in

By Avatar 8 (Avatar 8 LLC) · Published November 1, 2026 · https://deed.page/blog/justpublish-alternative

A Just Publish alternative is another static host that takes a website built with ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or another AI tool and gives it a public link. Just Publish archives a Free site after 30 days with no traffic ([Just Publish pricing](https://justpublish.ai/pricing)), while a deed.page Free site has no inactivity rule and stays up until you delete it, across 25 sites of up to 25 MB each ([pricing](https://deed.page/pricing)).

Every Just Publish claim below was read on justpublish.ai on November 1, 2026, with the source page linked next to it. Prices and limits change, so check their pages before you decide. The deed.page commands were run against production the same morning with a 15-minute `X-Ttl`, and the test sites were then deleted.

## What is a good Just Publish alternative?

The biggest difference is who has to be present. Just Publish says "every publish is made by a signed-in person (a free account, Google or an email code)", on the website and over MCP alike ([source](https://justpublish.ai/)). Its MCP server asks the person to sign in through OAuth the first time an assistant connects ([source](https://justpublish.ai/agent-setup.md)).

That is a good fit when a person is at the keyboard and wants every site in one dashboard. It is a poor fit when the agent runs alone: a cron job, a CI step, or a Grok Bot agent on its own box. deed.page is built for that case. The first publish needs no account, no email code, and no OAuth window. It returns the URL plus a token that owns the site, and there is no claim step and no default expiry.

## Side by side (checked November 1, 2026)

| | Just Publish | deed.page |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Account to publish | Required: Google or an email code, web and MCP ([source](https://justpublish.ai/)) | None. The token in the first reply owns the site |
| Free sites | Unlimited; 50 MB, 500 files, 5 MB per file each ([source](https://justpublish.ai/pricing)) | 25 sites of up to 25 MB each ([pricing](https://deed.page/pricing)) |
| Free site with no visitors | Archived after 30 days; deploying again wakes it ([source](https://justpublish.ai/pricing)) | Stays up until you delete it, or until an `X-Ttl` you set runs out |
| Your own domain | Builder, $9/month per site, 1 domain ([source](https://justpublish.ai/pricing)) | 1 on Free, 3 on Hobby at $3/month ([custom domains](https://deed.page/blog/custom-domains-via-api)) |
| MCP | `https://mcp.justpublish.ai/`, OAuth sign-in, 4 tools ([source](https://justpublish.ai/)) | `https://deed.page/mcp`, no sign-in ([walkthrough](https://deed.page/blog/mcp-publish-walkthrough)) |
| Plain HTTP publish | Not documented on the pages above; the documented paths are the upload page and MCP | One `curl` PUT or POST |

Where Just Publish is ahead: unlimited Free sites, twice the per-site size on Free, an upload page where a person can drop a ZIP or folder with no code ([source](https://justpublish.ai/)), a dashboard tied to a signed-in account (deed.page ownership is a token, with an optional recovery email), and Builder extras such as environment variables and a custom 404 page ([source](https://justpublish.ai/pricing)). deed.page is for agents only and has no upload page in the browser. Free deed.page sites also show a small "Published with deed.page" link, which Hobby removes.

## The one-line curl

```bash
curl -T index.html "https://deed.page/v1/sites?slug=menu-draft-j5p8&ref=blog"
```

The reply, trimmed:

```json
{"ok":true,"url":"https://menu-draft-j5p8.deed.page/","version":"v1","permanent":true,"version_url":"https://v1--menu-draft-j5p8.deed.page/","token":"deed_tok_…"}
```

`menu-draft-j5p8` is only an example; pick your own slug. The token is shown once and deed.page stores only its SHA-256, so save it right away ([token hygiene](https://deed.page/blog/token-hygiene-for-agents)). Running the same command with `-H "Authorization: Bearer $DEEDPAGE_TOKEN"` keeps the URL and bumps the version. In our test that returned `v2`, and the `v1--` permalink still served the first version.

## The MCP call

Add `https://deed.page/mcp` to Claude, Cursor, or any Streamable HTTP MCP client. ChatGPT connectors use `https://deed.page/mcp/chatgpt`. No sign-in window opens. "Publish this on deed.page" becomes one tool call:

```json
{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"publish_site","arguments":{"slug":"menu-draft-mcp-j5p8","files":{"index.html":"<!doctype html><title>Menu draft</title><h1>Published over MCP</h1>"}}}}
```

Our test returned `"ok": true` and a live `https://menu-draft-mcp-j5p8.deed.page/`. Sent with no Authorization header, the same call also minted a new token in the reply, so an agent that has never used deed.page can publish on its first try.

## Moving a site from Just Publish

Keep the folder you uploaded, or ask your assistant to read the live files back with Just Publish's `get_site_files` tool ([source](https://justpublish.ai/)). Then send the folder as one tarball:

```bash
tar -czf site.tgz -C site . && curl -X PUT "https://deed.page/v1/sites?slug=menu-draft-j5p8" --data-binary @site.tgz -H "Content-Type: application/gzip" -H "Authorization: Bearer $DEEDPAGE_TOKEN"
```

Request bodies over 4 MB use the [large-site upload](https://deed.page/blog/plan-upload-large-sites), and single-page apps can turn on [SPA mode](https://deed.page/blog/spa-mode-client-routes). To change one file without resending the rest, add `-H "X-Merge: 1"`, which overwrites only the paths in that request.

## FAQ

**Is deed.page free like Just Publish?**
Yes. Free costs $0 and covers 25 sites of up to 25 MB each, with no account. If you need more sites, Hobby is $3/month for 250 sites of up to 100 MB.

**Will a deed.page site be archived if nobody visits it?**
No. deed.page has no inactivity rule. A site stays up until its owner token deletes it, or until an `X-Ttl` you chose expires.

**Can a person without an agent use deed.page?**
Only through a terminal or an AI assistant, because deed.page has no browser upload page. If you want to drag a folder into a web page, Just Publish's upload page is the simpler choice.
